A Tasmanian driver has survived a ‘very close call’ after a piece of wood from a passing log truck crashed through their windscreen in the state’s north yesterday afternoon.
Police say the incident occurred at around 2:30pm on Bridport Road near the Pipers River shop as the driver of the white SUV was travelling eastbound.
“The log truck was travelling in the opposite direction, and police are appealing for witnesses or dashcam footage from anyone travelling on Bridport Road at the time,” a spokesperson said.
“This is a solemn reminder of the need for all motorists to ensure their load is secured before travelling on our roads.”
“It’s incredibly lucky no one was injured.”
