A 65-year-old woman died after a tragic head-on crash on the Bass Highway in Tasmania’s north-west this afternoon.

Police say the Crayfish Creek woman, who was the only person in her vehicle at the time, passed away as a result of her injuries shortly after the 3:30pm crash on Tuesday.

A 32-year-old woman remains in Burnie’s North West Regional Hospital with serious injures, while three others are believed to be in stable conditions.

Police ask anyone that may have witnessed either a white Holden Rodeo or a blue Land Rover Freelander in the area around the time of the crash to contact them.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
