A 73-year-old woman has been found after she lost control of her car and hit a tree on Pelham Road over the weekend, spending 2 days alone in the bush.

The woman swerved to avoid wildlife on Saturday afternoon, and was only located around 10am on Monday morning when a TFS member noticed her car on the side of the road.

The TFS member quickly alerted the police and emergency services who arrived on the scene and transported the woman to the Royal Hobart Hospital by ambulance.

Inspector Philippa Burk said that initial investigations indicate the woman had been in the bush since about 4.30pm on Saturday.

“Police and emergency services were called to the scene and the female driver was conveyed to the RHH by ambulance in a stable condition,” she said.

“We would like to thank the TFS representative for their initial attendance and investigation.”

“It is such a great outcome that the woman was found, especially considering the weather conditions over the last two days.”

“We remind motorists that the best thing you can do to keep yourself, our furry friends, and other road users safe is to slow down at dusk and dawn.”
