A young Tasmanian driver is in hot water after being caught driving 70km/h over the speed limit on the Bass Highway on Friday.
The 2nd year provisional driver was caught at around 5:40pm doing 180km/h in a 110km/h zone near Prospect.

Police say the male driver will be prosecuted for high-speed driving offences, which could result in a lengthy disqualification and a fine of over $1000.
The incident occurred just on dusk when the light was low, and the potential consequences ‘could have been fatal’, a spokesperson said.
