Devonport and Latrobe police have wrapped up a week-long blitz on illegal e-scooter and skateboard use, issuing 10 penalties to riders flouting safety rules.
The targeted operation saw officers speak with about 40 riders across both areas.
Eight infringements were handed out for riding without approved helmets.
One rider was fined for using a personal mobility device on a prohibited road and a young person received a caution for not wearing a helmet.
Constable Jess Gibson led the operation.

“We’re seeing a steady increase in the popularity of electric scooters and skateboards across Devonport and Latrobe, particularly among young people,” she said.
“Most riders were receptive to the education provided, however where we identified clear breaches that placed riders or others at risk, we did not hesitate to take enforcement action.”
Police have the power to seize devices for up to seven days if they believe a rider is using them dangerously.
Gibson said basic safety measures could prevent serious injuries.
“Wearing a helmet, sticking to speed limits and riding responsibly are simple measures that significantly reduce the risk of serious injury,” she said.
Riders must wear approved helmets at all times. Speed limits are capped at 15km/h on footpaths and 25km/h on roads and shared paths.
Using a mobile phone while riding is banned, as is riding under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Carrying passengers or animals is also prohibited.
“Know the rules and ride safe,” Gibson said.
“These devices are a convenient and fun way to get around, but riders must understand they are legally responsible for how they use them.”
