A Queenstown man who was caught by marine police on Tasmania’s West Coast fishing undersized rock lobsters and not clipping the tails of the recreationally-caught crayfish has been fined and charged over the weekend.
The 36-year-old offender was nabbed during a surveillance operation at Macquarie Heads near Strahan and is now facing charges and a fine of $6,516,00.

According to Constable Wayne Bradford, who was involved in the operation, the crayfish caught were measured and returned to the water.
Bradford also warned others who may be tempted to break the rules that they could face severe penalties, including the seizure of their boats and cars – as well as hefty fines.
