Former Australian cricket captain Tim Paine has joined the Tasmania JackJumpers advisory board as their new Director of High Performance.
Paine has reportedly had an ‘informal relationship’ with the NBL club since its inception in 2021 and has formed a strong bond with head coach Scott Roth.
He said he is now excited to take on a more formal role on the board.
“Like all Tasmanians I have followed the JackJumpers with great interest since their first season and have very much enjoyed my interactions with Scott and his coaching staff,” Paine said.
“I am thrilled to now be asked to play a more formal role as High Performance Director, sharing my experience and at the same time learning more about the JackJumpers program.”
Board chair Steve Old welcomed Paine to the team, saying he is a “very respected Tasmanian who has represented his state and country at the highest level”.
“I am thrilled to welcome his expertise to our Advisory Board working with our entire basketball department to continue to evolve our program and build on the success of the JackJumpers,” Old said.
Club owner Larry Kestelman said he has always wanted to ensure “committed, proud and successful” Tasmanians be involved in the club.
“I am very proud of all members of my voluntary advisory board,” Kestelman said.
“We look forward to [Paine’s] input into how we continue to evolve and improve on our very successful on-court program.”
