Bass Highway traffic sign hijacked overnight to display vulgar message to motorists

A portable traffic sign on the Bass Highway in Tasmania’s north-west was allegedly tampered with overnight, displaying a vulgar message to passing motorists this morning.

The electronic sign, located between Rocky Cape and Detention River, was changed to read “your mum’s a h*e”.

In a statement to Pulse, a spokesperson for Building Tasmania (formerly State Growth) said the sign was promptly fixed after the issue was reported this morning.

“A contractor’s sign was vandalised overnight and reset to its intended message at 7.30am,” the spokesperson said.

“Any damage to the sign will be reported to Tasmania Police by the contractor.”
