Tasmania Police’s Special Operations ‘Bearcat’ armoured vehicle was rushed to the Derwent Valley overnight in response to an “isolated incident”.

Dozens of people took to social media on Monday evening to question why the rarely-seen $400,000 tank was racing from Hobart, followed by a ‘significant’ number of police cars and ambulances.

A Tasmania Police spokesperson told Pulse the incident related to a “concern for the welfare of a man” at a private residence in Glenora near Bushy Park.

“The man was safely taken into custody at the scene and transported to the Royal Hobart Hospital for assessment,” the spokesperson said.
