Police allege an armed teenager approached the driver and demanded money while they were parked near the Bridgewater Community Centre in Bowden Drive around 12pm on Wednesday.
The 16-year-old then fled the area, only to be located and taken into custody with the help of community members.
The teenager appeared in the Hobart Magistrates Court in an out-of-hours session on Wednesday night.
“Police would like to encourage any persons who witnessed the incident to contact Bridgewater Uniform or Bridgewater CIB to assist with the investigation,” a police spokesperson said.
