The man who was tragically killed after falling at Cradle Mountain over the weekend has been identified as 38-year-old Samuel Whinnett.
Sam’s partner Hannah has remembered him as “the kindest, most generous and loving soul” who “brought people together and took care of them before himself”.
His family have thanked his friends who were with him on Sunday and the first responders who were involved in the retrieval of him, saying their loved and loving partner, son, brother, uncle and friend will be terribly missed.
“We are absolutely heartbroken by the sudden loss of our beautiful Sam at Cradle Mountain on Sunday,” the family said in a statement.
“Sam was passionate about the environment and he was doing what he loved – spending time in the Tasmanian wilderness – when he was tragically taken.”
His partner Hannah said she would always remember him as “the kindest, most generous and loving soul.”
“He always brought people together and took care of them before himself,” she said.
The family added that Sam was a loved and loving partner, son, brother, uncle and friend who brought light and love to everyone in his orbit.
“We will miss him terribly,” they said.
