A new craft beer venue dedicated entirely to Tasmanian-made drinks will open in North Hobart in the next few weeks.
Hobart Beer Culture Co. will operate out of a converted pump warehouse at 50 Letitia Street, offering only locally brewed craft beer on tap alongside Tasmanian whisky, gin and wine from independent producers.
The venue has partnered with several local breweries including T-Bone Brewing Co., Shambles Brewery, Spotty Dog Brewery, Hobart Brewing Co. and McHenry Distillery and Brewery.
The founder, Deepak Reddy Aduri said he also wanted to showcase smaller “garage” brewers who did not have access to tap rooms, a place to reach customers.
“We will be doing a live music sessions as well,” he said.
“So we got a nice stage that two to four people can actually perform on it.”
The space will also feature an indoor children’s play area and a permanent food truck called Fried and Loaded parked outside.
A cafe will be open in the mornings, serving food and Botero coffee from 7am to 2pm, with the bar open from midday until 9pm, seven days a week.
Aduri already runs Urban Kitchen and Grills in Lindisfarne and has spent eight years in the hospitality industry.
He said there was some nervousness about opening in North Hobart after recent venue closures in the area, including Republic Bar and Cafe in the same suburb.
“A little bit worried on how the people gonna accept us, our new venue,” he said.
Despite those concerns, Aduri said he wants the venue to serve as a community gathering space.
“We just wanna bring everyone, all the community together, one place and just give them a beer … just to hang out,” he said.
The venue is waiting on final council permits before it can open.
