UPDATED: A second person has died after another fatal Easter crash on Tasmania’s roads this long weekend.
Police say a 29-year-old woman passed away after a serious crash on the East Tamar Highway at 6:30am today.
The woman, who was the only one in the car at the time of the accident, is thought to have lost control of her vehicle near Bell Bay and died at the scene.
Police are urging anyone with information about the accident or relevant dashcam footage to contact them on 131 444.
EARLIER: Emergency services have rushed to the scene of a serious long weekend motor vehicle accident on the East Tamar Highway this morning.
Police say the crash happened around 7:30am near Bell Bay, approximately 2kms south of the Bell Bay power station, and is believed to have resulted in significant damage to the vehicles involved.
Traffic on the East Tamar Highway has been reduced to one lane, with traffic management in place while emergency services work to clear the area.
Details about the cause of the accident and any potential injuries to those involved are not yet available.
