Emergency assistance grants available for flood-affected Derwent Valley residents

Tasmanians in the Derwent Valley affected by flooding or road closures are now eligible for Emergency Assistance Grants.

The grants are available to residents in areas including Meadowbank, Glenora, Bushy Park, Gretna, Macquarie Plains, Maydena, Strathgordon and surrounds.

The government funding aims to assist impacted individuals with essential needs such as shelter, food, transport and personal items.

Grants are available at $250 per adult over 18 years, $125 per dependent child under 18 years and a maximum of $1,000 for any one family.

Premier Jeremy Rockliff said the government stands ready to provide assistance to those impacted.

“We are preparing to activate further financial support arrangements if they are needed, which includes support for impacted councils and communities,” he said.

Minister for Police, Fire and Emergency Services Felix Ellis stressed the importance of Tasmanians following the advice of emergency services.

“Thank you to our community for responding so well during this time, for their cooperation, common sense and understanding,”
