A towering tree fire in Glenorchy created a dramatic night-time spectacle as flames spewed into the air overnight.
The blaze, which erupted on Tolosa Street around 11:30pm on Friday, engulfed a large tree and damaged a power pole, causing immediate concern for neighbouring properties.
Quick-thinking locals sprang into action, with one neighbour racing to alert sleeping residents in the adjacent house to evacuate.
Tasmania Fire Service crews responded swiftly to contain the vegetation fire before it could spread to nearby structures.

While the fire was successfully extinguished without major property damage, the TFS said a vehicle parked near the burning tree sustained some damage.
TasNetworks personnel were called to the scene to assess and repair the affected power infrastructure, which had been impacted by the fire.

A TFS spokesperson told Pulse that no investigation will be conducted into the cause of the fire.
