Hammer attack leaves Launceston man seriously injured

A Launceston man has been left with serious injures after allegedly being attacked by a man with a hammer on Friday.

Police say a 44-year-old man from Mowbray has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm following the incident.

He has been detained to appear in an out-of-hours hearing at the Launceston Magistrates Court today.

According to reports, the victim was allegedly struck several times on the head with a hammer, resulting in serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police have not released any details on the motive behind the assault or the relationship between the victim and the attacker.
