The City of Launceston is on the hunt for a new monkey keeper to care for their Japanese macaque troop in City Park!
The council say the role requires a ‘dedicated individual’ who can provide high-quality animal husbandry and management practices while delivering educational messages to visitors.
The successful candidate will be responsible for daily food preparation, presentation, and husbandry, managing breeding and training programs, and assisting in animal capture and veterinary procedures.
To be eligible for the position, you must have completed or be studying towards the Captive Animals Certificate III or equivalent, or have a science-based university degree (preferably in Zoology), or sufficient appropriate experience to equate to formal coursework.
Additionally, you must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in animal husbandry.
