EARLIER: Tasmania Police have launched a “major search operation” for a missing elderly man in Tasmania’s north this afternoon.
Police say that the 75-year-old man, who is slim built, 5’11” tall, and balding with a grey moustache, went missing from the Sidmouth area at approximately 1:30pm.
“He was last seen wearing a horizontal dark and light blue striped jumper, black trackpants with a red stripe, a cream coloured hat with a spider on it and black slides on his feet,” a spokesperson said.
“All Sidmouth residents are asked to search their premises and any outbuildings for this person.”
The search operation, which currently involves a police drone, SES volunteers and the Rescue Helicopter is still ongoing as officers urge anyone who may have seen a person matching the description to contact them on 131444.
