The man accused of murdering Tasmania Police Constable Keith Smith will be sentenced in the Burnie Supreme Court later this month.
Leigh Geoffrey Sushames, 46, appeared briefly in the Supreme Court today via video link from Risdon Prison.
Justice Tamara Jago adjourned the hearing until May 22 and ordered Sushames to appear in person on that date.
Defence counsel Greg Richardson told the court he was still waiting on documents, including victim impact statements, that he needed to read to his client before taking instructions ahead of sentencing.

Sushames pleaded guilty in January to murdering Smith and to one count of aggravated assault.
He pleaded not guilty to the attempted murder of Sergeant Gavin John Rigby, who was with Smith at the time.

Smith, 57, was shot dead at a property on Allison Road, North Motton on June 16, 2025.
He and Rigby had gone there to serve a court-ordered repossession notice.
Smith died at the scene. His death was the first fatal shooting of a Tasmania Police officer in more than a century.
The 25-year veteran, based at Ulverstone, was farewelled with full ceremonial honours in Devonport on June 27, 2025.

Hundreds of mourners lined the streets for the procession.
He is survived by his wife Janaha and daughter Ava.
Sushames was remanded in custody. He will be sentenced in person at the Supreme Court in Burnie on May 22.
