Police say officers detected the vehicle a short time later when the driver failed to stop for police on Middle Road in Devonport.

CCTV footage from a home along the evade route captured the sound of the Falcon screeching around a corner at high speeds, with a police vehicle following behind doing the same.

A large scale search operation involving police resources and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter was launched, however when the vehicle was located it was found abandoned in nearby bushland.

“Police are seeking witnesses who observed or captured the vehicle driving in the greater-Devonport area, or anyone who may be able assist with our investigation,” police said.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or at crimestopperstas.com.au, referencing OR735311. Information can be provided anonymously.”
