Pedestrian injured after being struck by vehiclein Sandy Bay

Updated, Friday 12pm: Police say Byron Street at Sandy Bay is now clear from the earlier crash.

The male pedestrian, aged in his 70s, has been transported by Ambulance to the Royal Hobart Hospital in a stable condition.

Earlier: A pedestrian has been hit by a vehicle on Byron Street at Sandy Bay.

The adult pedestrian is receiving medical treatment at the scene and will be taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital.

Authorities are asking motorists to avoid the area until the scene is cleared.
