A woman has suffered minor burns in a house fire at East Devonport, in Tasmania’s north-west, this morning.
Tasmania Fire Service crews from Devonport were called to a home on Brooke Street just after 8:30am on Monday, where they found a bedroom on fire.
The woman was treated by Ambulance Tasmania. Two children were also assessed as a precaution.
Fire investigators have since deemed the cause of the fire accidental.
TFS fire investigator Danny Delpizzo said crews got the fire under control quickly and stayed at the scene to carry out investigations through the morning.
“Working smoke alarms located in the residence helped to alert occupants to the fire and allowed them to evacuate quickly,” Delpizzo said.
No other injuries have been reported.
The fire service recommends installing smoke alarms in every bedroom or where someone sleeps and in living areas and garages.
“It’s important for everyone to remember that working smoke alarms save lives,” Delpizzo said.
