An overnight incident in Hobart’s northern suburbs has prompted a police investigation after at least one gunshot was heard across the area.
Police were called to the United service station on the Brooker Highway at Lutana on Tuesday following reports of an altercation between two men.
Inspector Mark Burke said investigations so far indicate that the incident was “targeted” and involved people known to each other.
“Around 7:55pm police responded to reports of an incident near Derwent Park Road where a firearm was allegedly discharged from a residence towards a vehicle,” he said.
Police on Tuesday told Pulse one person was arrested at the scene.
Further investigations are ongoing to locate the offenders believed to be involved.
“Every alleged firearms incident is a concern for the community and police,” Burke said.
“I urge anyone with information in relation to this incident, or firearms in our community, to come forward.”
