Tasmania Police have caught 64 speeding drivers in a single day of operations across the north-west coast.
Officers also detected two motorists driving while using a mobile phone, one failing to wear a seat belt, an unregistered vehicle and a disqualified driver during the traffic operation on Monday.
One vehicle was also found to be defective.
“Speed continues to be a leading cause of serious crashes in Tasmania,” police said.
“Driving above the posted speed limit reduces the amount of time the driver has to react in a dangerous situation to avoid a crash, it also increases vehicle stopping distance.”
Police say they will continue to target poor driving behaviour across the state.
“Please, slow down to help us keep everyone safe on the roads,” they said.
