Police are responding to a two-vehicle crash on the East Derwent Highway at Old Beach.

Motorists have been asked to slow down, drive with caution and expect delays until the scene is cleared.

No serious injuries have been reported at this stage.

A witness told Pulse it was “an almost identical situation as last month’s double fatality at exactly the same spot and situation”.

Emergency services have responded to a crash on the East Derwent Highway

The same stretch of highway was the scene of a fatal crash on June 23 when two people died after a collision between a Holden Barina hatchback and a Mitsubishi Triton utility near Cassidys Road.

Both occupants of the Barina were killed at the scene.
