The Tasmanian Government is attempting to lure Victorian health workers across the Bass Strait with a recruitment drive amid the state’s ongoing staffing crisis.
Full page advertisements have been placed in Melbourne’s Herald Sun and The Age newspapers today, as part of a new campaign aiming to fill over 500 vacant positions.
Tasmanian Health Minister Guy Barnett said the recruitment blitz is the “largest ever… in Tasmania’s History”.
“My message to Victorian healthcare workers is, you might not be welcome under the Victorian Labor Government, but you’re more than welcome here.”
The minister said the state needs and wants skilled workers, particularly nurses, midwives, doctors and allied health professionals.
“Tasmania wants you and we need you,” he said.
The State Government say they are investing $12.1 billion in health over the next four years.
