It was a frenzy reminiscent of Taylor-mania this morning as tickets to several launch events for Tasmania’s AFL later this month went live.

With just a handful of spots made available, Tasmania Football Club Executive Director Kath McCann said they have been “overwhelmed by community interest” ahead of the March 18 launch.

The Hobart launch event was fully booked within three minutes of tickets becoming available, while tickets to the Launceston, Devonport and Oatlands events were snapped up within two hours.

“Due to the sheer demand for the Hobart event, the Club is exploring establishing a second Southern launch event site for March 18,” she said.

“Other sites saw steady uptake, with some tickets still available to Queenstown and St Helens events as of Monday afternoon.”

For those unable to attend any event, a live stream will showcase the historic reveal of the team’s official names, colours and guernsey.

Among the viewers will be Jeremy Rockliff, who last month decided against attending a launch event to avoid ‘politicising’ the day ahead of the state election.
