Two men charged with firearms offences after Claremont shooting incident

Two men have been charged with serious firearms offences following an alleged shooting and subsequent investigation.

A 36-year-old from Herdsmans Cove was arrested on Monday after a firearm was reportedly shot towards a home on Main Road in Claremont in the early hours of the morning.

A 24-year-old man from Claremont was arrested on Tuesday in relation to the same incident, as well as an aggravated robbery and motor vehicle stealing incident in Rokeby on Saturday evening.

The 36-year-old man has been charged with firearms offences, while the 24-year-old man is facing charges for aggravated robbery, motor vehicle stealing and firearms offences.

Both men appeared in the Hobart Magistrates Court this week and have been remanded in custody.

They are scheduled to reappear on 20 September.
