A Wynyard woman has allegedly been caught drink-driving at more than four times the legal limit, with two young children in the car.
Police say the 31-year-old recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.238 during a traffic operation on the West Coast on Tuesday night. The legal limit is 0.05.
Inspector Adam Spencer said the children’s presence in the car made the incident especially concerning.
“… In this instance, two young children were put at risk by being in a vehicle with a driver who returned a high blood alcohol reading,” he said.
Spencer said drink-driving went beyond simply breaking the law.

“Driving while under the influence of alcohol isn’t just about breaking the law – you are putting yourself and others at risk of serious injury or death,” he said.
The operation also detected a second drink-driver.
A 27-year-old Rosebery man was pulled over for speeding on the Murchison Highway and later returned a reading of 0.07.
Officers also recorded 14 speeding offences, one vehicle defect notice and one driver failing to display P-plates during the night.
A 39-year-old Victorian man was clocked travelling 42km/h over the 50km/h speed limit.
Spencer said targeted operations would continue.
“Police will continue to conduct these targeted operations to ensure drivers are held to account, because everyone deserves to be safe on our roads,” he said.
