Initial investigations suggest that the woman, who was the sole occupant of a blue 2012 Nissan Micra, failed to navigate a left-hand bend and collided with a tree after leaving the road.
Despite assistance from members of the public, the woman died before Tasmania Ambulance Service personnel could reach the scene.
Police ask anyone with information or relevant dash cam footage to contact them on 131 444.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
