World’s best mountain bikers to tackle Tasmania’s toughest downhill track

The world’s most elite mountain bikers have touched down in Tasmania ahead of Red Bull Hardline Tasmania, with riders already testing the notorious course at Maydena Bike Park.

The third edition of the death-defying event returns this weekend, with seeding on Saturday and finals on Sunday at 2pm AEDT.

Reigning champions Jackson Goldstone and Gracey Hemstreet, both from Canada, will defend their 2025 titles against a stacked international field.

American Asa Vermette and Scotland’s Lou Ferguson, fresh from victories at Red Bull Hardline Wales 2025, headline the challengers.

The upgraded course features massive drops, brutal rock gardens and raw rainforest terrain that’s earned its reputation as one of the world’s toughest downhill tracks.

Practice sessions saw riders pushing limits on the technical course, which has been modified for 2026.

Australian legends Sam Hill, Troy Brosnan and Connor Fearon will compete alongside international stars including American Aaron Gwin, Britain’s Bernard Kerr and New Zealand’s Brook MacDonald.

The women’s field includes Scotland’s Mikayla Parton, Norway’s Mille Johnset and New Zealand’s Jess Blewitt.

Final tickets are available at the door or online at redbull.com for spectators wanting to witness the action in person at the Tasmanian venue.

For those watching from home, the event streams live and free on Red Bull TV and the Red Bull Bike YouTube channel.

The weekend kicks off Saturday morning with practice runs from 9am, followed by seeding from 2pm to 4pm.

Sunday’s race day begins with final practice before the main event at 2pm, with the awards ceremony scheduled for 4pm.

Off-track entertainment includes live music at The Patio, athlete signing sessions at the Finish Bowl, and a photography presentation featuring Graeme Murray and Sven Martin.

A VIP guided course walk and summit ride are scheduled for Saturday morning, giving fans an up-close look at the challenging terrain riders will navigate at speed.
