Young Carrick man charged over Launceston crash which killed Trevallyn man

A young man has been charged with manslaughter following a fatal crash in Launceston that killed one person and injured another in October last year.

The 24-year-old from Carrick was driving through the intersection of Margaret and Frederick streets in Launceston when he struck a person on October 12 2023.

The collision killed the 26-year-old male rider from Trevallyn and seriously injured a 46-year-old man from Scottsdale.

Police arrested and charged the man on Wednesday.

He has been charged with Manslaughter, cause grievous bodily harm, cause the death of another by negligent driving and cause grievous bodily harm to another person by negligent driving.

The man will appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court on July 10.
