Young driver taken to hospital with serious injuries after Carlton River crash

A man has been seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash south-east of Sorell.

The man, aged in his 20s, crashed his blue Hyundai Getz on Carlton River Road at Carlton River around 11:50am on Friday.

Police say the southern Tasmanian man was driving towards Primrose Sands when his car left the road.

He was taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital with serious injuries.

Carlton River Road was closed between Homewood Drive and Sugarloaf Road while emergency services worked at the scene.

Police asked drivers to avoid the area while the crash was cleared.

Investigations into the cause of the crash are continuing.

“Police are seeking information from anyone who saw the Hyundai Getz prior to the crash,” a spokesperson said.
