More than 70 food and drink stallholders, including around 40% making their Winter Feast debut will take over the Hobart waterfront for Dark Mofo across two weekends in June – with tens of thousands of people expected to attend.
Celebrating Tasmania’s culinary scene and local produce, the feast will spread across Salamanca Lawns and Princes Wharf Shed 1 from June 11–15 and June 18–21.
Dark Mofo artistic director Chris Twite said the feast will be “a candlelit haven from the cold weather.”
“It’s where we refuel, nourished by the ritual of coming together around the fires, enjoying the incredible array of food and drink and sharing stories of exploration and discovery among friends and strangers,” he said.

International guest chef Floriano Pellegrino, who runs Michelin-starred restaurant Bros’ in Puglia with partner Isabella Potì, will collaborate with Roberto Mele of MAMA Hobart bakery to create five dishes combining Italian flavours with Tasmanian produce, including a ricotta and pickled mulberry tart.
Hobart’s ten-seat restaurant Scholé makes its first appearance, with chef Luke Burgess serving Japanese-inspired crispy potato mochi with umami mushroom gravy.

David Moyle will present fried cheesy rice balls made with bull kelp and toppings ranging from braised abalone to fresh truffles, while South Hobart wine bar South returns with slow-cooked possum bao.
TV chef Analiese Gregory is back grilling scallops in wakame butter and baby abalone from Tasmania’s west coast, and Mona’s executive chef Vince Trim will be cooking with fire at the Heavy Metal Kitchen.
For families, newcomer Brine offers an “unhappy meal” with a kid-friendly option, and admission is free for under 16s with a parent or guardian.
More than 100 musical acts will perform throughout the feast, kicking off with The Gathering, a First Nations-led celebration curated by Dark Mofo’s Tasmanian Aboriginal cultural adviser Caleb Nichols-Mansell.

Nichols-Mansell said the “Matriarchs of Music” theme, featuring a fully female-led lineup including Emma Donovan and Stiff Gins, marks his final year in the role.
“It is a love letter to the women, aunties, grandmothers, sisters and gender-diverse kin who have carried our songs, our stories, our grief, our resistance and our joy across generations,” he said.
Winter Feast curator Amanda Vallis said Tasmania’s food culture is “on full display once again this year, with tasty offerings from all around the island.”
All stallholders will use reusable cups and compostable crockery as part of a zero-waste commitment.

A sensory-friendly session for people with disability and their families runs from 3pm to 4pm on June 21, with free community day admission supported by the City of Hobart.
