A motorcyclist from West Ulverstone has had his Harley Davidson seized after being caught riding at more than 100km/h over the speed limit.

The 43-year-old was initially detected travelling at 105km/h in a 60km/h zone on Kindred Road near Forth last Thursday.

Acting Inspector Martin Parker said the man was then recorded reaching speeds of up to 165km/h before being stopped by police near the Swamp Road intersection.

“Our speed limits are in place for a reason and disobeying these puts lives at risk,” Parker said.

“Motorcycles are over represented in serious and fatal traffic crashes and travelling at speeds such as these could have had serious consequences.”

The man will be proceeded against for speeding offences.

“Police will continue to patrol our roads and enforce the rules, to help keep everyone safe,” Parker said.
