The Bass Highway in Wynyard has been partially blocked following a serious crash between a truck and a van.
Emergency services are at the scene near the intersection with Reservoir Drive outside Burnie Airport.
One person has reportedly sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash.
“Diversions are in place on the Bass Highway at the intersections with Mount Hicks Road and Calder Road,” police said.
“Motorists are asked to slow down and avoid the area until the scene is cleared.”
“We’re urging motorists to drive with caution today as strong winds overnight may have caused unexpected debris on the road.”
“Overnight we responded to 40 individual jobs across the state due to road hazards, including fallen trees and water on the road.”
“Please remember to be safe on the roads, slow down, put your headlights on, and never walk, ride or drive through flood water on the roads.”
Delays are expected.
