Tasmanians are in for four days of thunderstorms, with the Bureau of Meteorology forecasting a wet and potentially stormy end to the week.
Showers are expected to develop over the north-west of the state this morning and spread statewide throughout the day.
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for heavy rainfall for the north-west today.
“A very moist airmass and an upper trough are producing storms with heavy rainfall over Bass Strait, moving onshore onto the northern Tasmanian coastline,” the BOM said.
“Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours.”
Devonport, Burnie, Ulverstone, Sheffield and George Town may be most impacted.
Elsewhere, the Bureau is predicting further statewide thunderstorms on Thursday and Friday.
More showers are forecast for Saturday, with a chance of thunderstorms in the north.
Updated 11am, Wednesday November 27: The Bureau has cancelled the severe weather warning, saying the “immediate threat” of severe thunderstorms has passed.
“The situation will continue to be monitored and further warnings will be issued if necessary,” the BOM said.
