A person has been caught on camera speeding across a level crossing on a motorbike as a train approached, in the latest near miss prompting a warning from TasRail.
The state-owned rail operator shared footage on social media showing the rider darting over the tracks at the Weily Park Road crossing in Bridgewater as red lights flashed.
TasRail said it was one of “several near-miss trespass incidents” captured by its locomotive cameras over the past fortnight.
“Our drivers are still reporting what can only be politely described as ‘risky’ behaviour from members of the public,” TasRail said.
The operator said these incidents “more often than not” involve “pushies or e-bikes”.

TasRail acknowledged rising fuel prices may be pushing more people onto two wheels.
“We understand fuel prices are biting and anything that gets people moving is a positive,” TasRail said.
“But we can guarantee there’s something that hits a lot harder than rising costs.”
TasRail urged the public to stay out of the rail corridor.
“Please don’t put yourself, our drivers or emergency services in harm’s way,” TasRail said.

The warning is the latest in a series of safety appeals from TasRail, which has become increasingly vocal about trespass and level crossing incidents across the state’s network.
TasRail’s most recent annual report recorded 82 trespass incidents in 2024-25, while level crossing near misses climbed from 68 to 137.
