Tasmania Devils storm home with roaring final quarter to beat Gold Coast

The Tasmania Devils have stormed home with a massive final quarter to blow Gold Coast out of the water in their VFL Round 16 clash at North Hobart Oval.

After trailing by 27 points at quarter time, Tasmania piled on nine goals to one in the last term to run out convincing 50-point winners, 18.14 (122) to 10.12 (72).

Gold Coast dominated early, kicking four goals to none in the opening quarter to lead 29-2 at the first break.

Tasmania hit back in the second term, booting five goals to three to cut the deficit to 12 points at the main break.

The home side continued to chip away in the third quarter, adding four goals to two to take a 12-point lead into the final term.

The last quarter was all one-way traffic as Tasmania slammed on nine goals to just one from the Suns, turning a competitive contest into a rout.

Jed Hagan was the star for Tasmania with four goals, while Bailey Boag, Hugh Dixon, Harry Elmer and Brandon Leary each kicked two.

Aiden Begg, Kai Cameron, Robbie Fox, Lachlan Hay, Maddox Iverach and Jye Menzie added one apiece.

Caleb Lewis kept Gold Coast in the contest with four goals, supported by Max Knobel who kicked two.

Jack Callinan was busy through the midfield for Tasmania with 27 disposals, closely followed by Nick Williams with 25.

Boag finished with 24 disposals and 11 marks in an influential display, while Geordie Payne collected 22 disposals at an impressive 90.9 per cent efficiency.

Robbie Fox was clean with the ball, recording 19 disposals at 94.7 per cent efficiency.
