CCTV footage has emerged showing the moments surrounding Wednesday’s shooting in Wynyard, with a man seen wielding an object and storming down a pathway before a shot is fired.
The footage, captured by a neighbouring property’s camera and obtained by 7NEWS, then shows a mother grabbing her young child and rushing them inside their home.
The 32-year-old suspect was arrested around 1:15pm on Thursday after a member of the public spotted him around 7:50am and passed the information on to police.
Around 50 officers were involved in the overnight search.

Detective Acting Inspector Luke Negri said the man was found at an “associate’s residence” on Belton Street in Wynyard.
“It’s too early to speculate on the offender’s movements but we do not believe they were at the associate’s address overnight,” he said.

“Just after 1pm, police entered that residence and located the 32-year-old male offender … and that offender was safely and peacefully arrested,” Negri said.
He said investigators had earlier recovered a weapon at the Sandpiper Road address where the alleged shooting took place.
“During that examination and that search, we have located the firearm that we believe was involved in the shooting and that was located at the rear of the property,” he said.
Negri said police are confident the shooting was not random.

“We were confident that this was a localised and existing dispute between those two persons,” he said.
The victim, a Tasmanian man in his late 30s who was shot in the stomach at a Sandpiper Road home around 3pm on Wednesday, remains in a serious but stable condition.
Police said the man sustained a single gunshot wound from a small-calibre firearm.
No serious injuries were reported during the arrest.

Negri said Wynyard residents can expect to see an ongoing police presence as investigations continue, but there’s no active search for other suspects.
Charges are yet to be laid.
