A young father who lost his life in a motorbike crash on the east coast over the weekend is being remembered as a “protector” of his siblings and an “amazing father” to his one-year-old daughter.
Risdon Vale man Dylan Hayes, 23, was one of two people killed in the head-on collision south of St Helens on Saturday morning.
A fundraiser launched less than 24 hours ago has already raised close to $30,000 to support his grieving family.
His sister Kiarna Hayes said she wished her three brothers and her sister could “wake up from this nightmare”.

“I need my big brother, I can’t do this without you… I keep going to ring you because your my person I go too when things are hard,” she said.
“I want you to come home.”

Hayes left school to pursue a career as a spray painter, becoming a respected and well-liked member of the trade, alongside his father at Eastern Panel and Paint in Mornington.
“On behalf of myself and the family we cannot say thank you enough for the outpouring love and condolences we have been given at this horrible time,” Kiarna wrote on the GoFundMe.
She said the funds raised will be towards funeral expenses and his daughter Aria.
Tasmania Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances leading to the fatal crash.
