Over 28,000 Clarence residents have had their say on the proposed high-performance centre in Rosny Parklands.
Tasmanian Electoral Commissioner Andrew Hawkey said 28,482 electors had returned their postal ballot papers when the poll closed at 2pm on Thursday.
“This is a strong response for a stand-alone elector poll for a large council,” he said.
“Work has commenced on extracting and balancing ballot papers in preparation for tomorrow’s count.”
The poll asked two questions, including if locals supported building the facility entirely within Rosny Parklands or across both the Rosny Parklands and Charles Hand Park.
Kingborough Mayor Paula Wriedt has said her council is “ready, willing and able” to host the $70 million facility if the non-binding poll shows the community does not support it.
